Will Jellicorse, Graduate Research Assistant
Will accepted a graduate research assistantship after receiving his bachelor's degree in turfgrass science and management at UT, to enter the masters program at the University of Arkansas. During the summer before beginning his graduate program, he was the second assistant manager of the baseball complex at Smokies Park.

Jesse Bowers, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Jesse received his bachelor's in 2006 with a major in turf, and quickly went on to become an assistant superindentent at The Bear Trace, Tims Ford, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Winchester, Tennessee.

Ryan Swilling, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Ryan was among our graduating class of 2004. He obtained the B.S. degree in Plant Sciences, with a concentration in Turfgrass Management. Just after graduating, Ryan assumed a position as Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at

Curt Moon, Head Sports Turf Manager
Curt received his bachelor's with a major in turf, and quickly went on to become the Head Sports Turf Manager for the Birmingham Barons Baseball Team. He supervises all turf and skinned area management: outfield, infield, pitcher's mound, bullpens, etc.

Patrick Lewins, Golf Course Superintendent
After earning his degree in our turf program, Patrick became the "Head Groundskeeper" (the European term for Superintendent, for Winston Golf Course in Germany.

Jason Sanderson, Golf Course Superintendent
Jason received his bachelor's degree and majored in turf, going on to become the golf course superintendent of the local Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, TN.

Bill Randle, Sports Turf Manager
After earning his degree in our turf program, Bill went on to become the head sports turf manager for Vanderbilt University, where he supervises all of the university's athletic fields. |

Andy Perry, Proprietor of Augusta Sod and Turf
After leaving our turf program, Andy worked at Augusta National Golf Course. He then purchased a sod farm, in Maryville, TN. The business produces sods for golf courses, sports turf and residential and commercial turf. While at UT, Andy started our departmental Turf Club. |
Dennis Shepard, Technical Representative
Dennis received both the bachelor's and masters degree in turf at UT. After getting his PhD at North Carolina State, he became a Technical Representative for Syngenta Professional Products. |

Stephen Sayres, Assistant Manager, Carolina Panthers
Stephen received his education in turfgrass science at UT. He became assistant manager of turf operations for the Carolina Panthers football organization. |

After receiving his education in turfgrass management at UT, Jesse went on to become the head of Athletic Facilities and Operations at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. |

Tommy Mittlesteadt, Territory Manager/Irrigation Specialist
Tommy's turf eudcation at UT prepared him for the position of Territory Manager/Irrigation Specialist for Ladd's, a distributor for professional (golf course) maintenance equipment, golf cars, and utility products such as off-road vehicles, tractors and specialty equipment. |
Eric Fasbender, Sports Turf Manager
After receiving his education in turfgrass management at UT, Eric went on to become Grounds Manager for the University of Oregon Athletics programs, where he supervises turf management for all athletic fields. |

Adam Hoffman, Asst. Golf Course Superindentent
Adam graduated with the bachelor's degree and assumed the position of Assistant Superintendent with the Bear Trace Golf Courses in Tennessee. Bear Trace takes its name from "the Golden Bear", Jack Nicklaus, and from the historic Natchez Trace, which originates in Tennessee.

After graduating with his bachelor's degree, Jason began a career as a golf course superindendent, working on the course at Fox Den in North Carolina.

Many of our turf students have found satisfying careers as superintendents of golf courses. James got his B.S. in turf from UT and became Assisant Superintendent of the golf course at Cherokee Country Club (Knoxville TN).

After graduating with his bachelor's degree, Paul worked as an Irrigation Technician for the golf course at Rarity Bay (Vonore, TN).

David Stone, Golf Course Superintendent
David received a turf degree at UT and became superindentendent of the Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee. The Honors Course is listed by Firefly Books as one of the great courses in the entire USA. |
