Teaching program:
Dr. Deyton teaches a Fruit and Vegetable Crops course (PS 434, 3 credits, fall semesters). The course is a study of fruit and vegetable crops with discussions of taxonomic classification and major cultivars, botanical descriptions, general culture, harvest and storage, etc. The class material is available at UTK's online computer 'Blackboard' program.
Dr. Deyton taught Crop Physiology and Ecology (1984-1994) and currently co-teaches Environmental Crop Physiology and Ecology (PSLS 532, 3 credits, spring, even years). The topics that he teaches include cold acclimation, freeze damage, chilling damage and cold dormancy of plants.
Dr. Deyton has supervised one Postdoctoral fellow, been major advisor to one Ph.D. student and seven M.S. students. He currently advises one M.S. student and one research associate.
