19. Feather
This exercise involves "feathering" the edges of an image: fading or blurring the sharp edge into the background.
- As in the smooth exercise, highlight som eportion of your image that is smaller than the whole thing. For now, highlight a portion much smaller than your whole image.
- Hit Select Feather Atl+S+F, then enter a feather radius (higher numbers give more feathering; try 4 for now). Then hit the enter key or Okay.
- With the selection you feathered still highlighted, hit Ctrl+C to copy the image.
- As for the prior exercises, align the original image at the top of assignment_photoshop.psd, and copy the altered image to the bottom.
- File Save for Web (Alt+Shft+Ctrl+S) as assignment_photoshop_feather.jpg.
- FTP assignment_photoshop_feather.jpg to the photoshop_assignment subfolder in your images folder on your Web server (example of finished color assignment file).
