15. Alter Image Color

Changing Image Color
Color Balance, Hue/Saturation

This exercise involves changing the color of your image:  tweaking the shadows, midtones and/or highlights (Color Balance Pallette), altering the hue (Hue/Saturation Pallette) or making the image monochromatic (Colorize box in Hue/Saturation Pallette).


Change Image Color

  1. Hit Ctrl B to pull up the Color Balance Pallette (Alt I+A+B) OR Ctrl U to pull up the Hue/Saturation Pallette (Alt I+A+H)

  2. If in Color Balance Pallette: with Shadows, Midtones or Highlights clicked, move the slides to the left or right; click Okay or hit the Enter key

  3. If in Hue/Saturation Pallette: with Colorize box either checked or unchecked, move Hue slide to left or right; click Okay or hit the Enter key

  4. Copy the altered image

  5. As for the prior three exercises, align the original image at the top of assignment_photoshop.psd, and copy the color-changed image to the bottom

  6. File Save for Web (Alt+Shft+Ctrl+S) as assignment_photoshop_color.jpg

  7. FTP assignment_photoshop_color.jpg to the photoshop_assignment subfolder in your images folder on your Web server (example of finished color assignment file)

  8. Proceed to flip
