1.
Take some photos with a digital camera, download to computer and save to disk (also okay just to locate an existing photo from somewhere else).

Start Adobe Photoshop and open an image file. (Alt F-O)

Click on filename

Crop image using marquee tool in Tools Pallette:
Drag cursor to highlight an area with pulsing dotted line;
Let mouse up; pulsing dotted line remains; (Alt I-P)

Resize image to width of 250 pixels at a resolution of 72 pixels per inch: (Alt I-I)

Make sure Constrain
Proportions box is clicked;
also try resizing with box
unclicked)
Click Ctrl + or Ctrl - to get image
displayed at 100%

Crop image again, to height of 140 pixels:
Set Marquee Tool Style to Fixed
Set width to 250 px
Set height to 140 px
Click onto image; dotted line highlights area of 250 x 140

Save the image: (Alt F-N)
File
Save, as an Adobe Photoshop file: imagename.psd
7.
Create a second, blank image file and save it as assignment_photoshop.psd: (Alt F-S):

New
Set width to 250 pixels
Set height to 300 height
Set resolution to 72 pixels/inch
Set mode to RGB Color
Set contents to white
